Taylor Swift to celebrate 100 Eras Tour concerts in Liverpool, England
Taylor Swift declares a rain show in France. Travis Kelce gets asked when he's going to pop the question. And how much does the Eras Tour star contribute to global warming?
Thanks for getting down to this Swift Beat, a free weekly newsletter on Miss Americana.
100 shows of eras
The first night of Liverpool, England will mark triple digits for the blockbuster concert. That will be 100 times Swift has handed out the 22 hat, 100 times the crowd has had "10 minutes to spare" and 100 times the singer has dove into the stage. And it's coincidentally on June 13th. Or is it? Get your clown noses ready.

Meet me in the pouring rain
One of Swift's last concerts was Lyon, France where fans were met with a downpour.
"Pluie, rain!" the singer exclaimed as she glided down the catwalk in her "Enchanted" dress. The rain sprinkled during the "Speak Now" era and came down in full force during the "Reputation" era. Mother Nature tapered off by "Folkmore" (the combined "Folklore"/"Evermore" set) but Swift still declared the 95th concert a rain show before performing "Champagne Problems": "That is set. That is permanent. It doesn't matter if it doesn't rain again."
Pride Month recognized in Lyon
The singer gave a shout out to the LGBTQ community during her song "You Need To Calm Down." In the middle of the "Lover" track, as wristwatches lit up in all rainbow colors, she exclaimed, "Happy Pride Month Lyon." You can watch her acknowledgment here.
Cool your jets?
How did Taylor Swift become a lightning rod in the debate over carbon dioxide emissions and just how much does her private jet contribute to global warming? Believe it or not, the controversy stemmed from a Kylie Jenner Instagram post in 2022 that's since been deleted. For the past two years, the Eras Tour star has taken heat and become the face of jet travel versus environmental impact.
An environmentalist calculated her impact as being 0.000000225% after dividing her emissions by global greenhouse gas emissions. A recent study also found she's not in the top 20 for celebrities. So who is? Check out this comprehensive piece on Taylor Swift's jet travel.
A Swift update
1… 2… 3… let’s go b****! If you didn’t see the news (cause you were somewhere else) here are three headlines from the week:
- "When are you going to make an honest woman out of her?" On Saturday, Travis Kelce joined Jason Sudeikis, Robert Smigel and George Wendt to be a part of the annual Big Slick Celebrity Weekend charity fundraiser in Kansas City, Missouri. Sudeikis asked Kelce, “Travis, real talk, okay, just the guys here. When are you going to make an honest woman out of her?" The tight end stayed quiet as Sudeikis continued, “Taylor doesn’t need to be working anymore and, again, I know your kicker agrees with me. He gets it.” The jab is in reference to Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker's controversial commencement speech. You can tell Kelce feels uncomfortable during the encounter at 4:45.
- Oh hi, London. Swift made a quick pitstop in-between Madrid and Lyon to visit the capital city of England. The singer's friend Cara Delevingne played Sally Bowles, the female lead in Cabaret. Delevingne shared a photo of the two in her dressing room.
- 'It's invasive & irresponsible.' Taylor Swift came to the defense of Lady Gaga on TikTok after the "Applause" singer posted a video denying pregnancy rumors. "Can we all agree that it's invasive & irresponsible to comment on a women's body," Swift wrote on the post. "Gaga doesn't owe anyone an explanation & neither does any woman." You can see the video here.
Off to Clownelia Street
Taylor Swift produced four music videos from "Midnights," her 10th album: "Lavender Haze," "Anti-Hero," "Bejeweled" and "Karma." For "The Tortured Poets Department," Swift has only released a music video for "Fortnight," so Swiftie math would tell you there are more coming for the 31-track double album. She intentionally chose seven songs for her TTPD set: "But Daddy I Love Him," "So High School," "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" "Down Bad," "Fortnight," "The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived" and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart." So any of these are prime for an Easter-egg riddled music video with amazing visuals. The last one of the list (ICDIWABH) would be a perfect recap of the tour music video like Swift has done four times before: Fearless Tour: "Fearless," Speak Now: "Sparks Fly", Red Tour: "Red" and 1989 World Tour: "New Romantics."
Taylor Nation may have hinted that "Who's Afraid of Little Old Me?" (WAOLOM) is the next music video.
Also on the same day, Swift's in-house marketing team sent out this tweet referencing the bridge of WAOLOM:
Will she announce something tonight in Edinburgh for 6/7 (6+7=13)? Will the reveal be on June 13th in Liverpool, England or will she do something bigger to commemorate her 100th show? Stay tuned Swifties.
Stories from the West End
The Taylor Swift economic impact is propelling small business owner Caroline Conner Fazeli.
"My revenue is more in the first quarter of this year then it has been in total for my entire business," says the San Francisco native from her home in Lyon, France.
Fazeli started a Facebook group in January to help Swifties navigate the Eastern France city by providing recommendations. She put together four events around the show: a private dinner at Bouchon Lyonnais the night before the concerts, two Drag queen brunches at CoCo (a train station converted to restaurant) the mornings before the concerts and a Swiftie Château Garden Party at a castle the day after the concerts.
"It was beautiful and it's one of my favorite castles that I've ever been to," says Fazeli who is already planning her next event adventure in London in August. "These events have changed my life. Absolutely changed the entire direction of my life and I love it. It was hard and stressful, but once it was over, I thought I would be exhausted, but I am pumped to keep going."
