Trump’s debate fumble
How’s it going? I’m Rebecca Morin, senior national news reporter at Paste BN. I can’t stop thinking about Chappell Roan’s Joan of Arc-inspired performance at the VMA’s last night.
19 days until the vice presidential debate. 54 days until Election Day. 49 days until Halloween! (I'm already starting on the scary movies and candy.)
Republicans fret Trump debate performance could haunt him in November
It was former President Donald Trump’s moment to define his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, on the debate stage Tuesday night. And Republicans say he fumbled it. You asked, On Politics answers: Electoral map prediction
Here’s another question from an On Politics reader: “What’s the estimated electoral candidate count right now?”
To be clear, we don’t know the results of the election yet. Early voting has kicked off in only a few states, and will start in more states in the coming weeks. But we can sort of predict how some states will vote due to historical results in those states – and we have a guesstimate on where the electoral count stands right now. Some estimates show Harris at 226 electoral votes and Trump at 219 electoral votes. But there are 93 electoral votes that are still up for grabs from the seven major battleground states.
The truth is, we won’t know how everything will truly play out until we know the results of the general election.
