National Day of Mourning set for Carter

People across the globe on Monday praised, mourned and remembered former President Jimmy Carter as members of his family prepared for a memorial journey from Plains, Georgia, to Atlanta and Washington, D.C., before returning for burial at his home in south Georgia.

Burial plans: Carter had long said he will be buried in Plains, a hometown he shared with former first lady Rosalynn Carter, and where she was buried in 2023. The burial site will be part of the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park. 👉 Follow today's coverage.

Trump loses sexual abuse appeal

A federal appeals court on Monday upheld a jury's verdict that President-elect Donald Trump sexually abused and defamed columnist E. Jean Carroll and owes her $5 million for doing so.

The original lawsuit: Carroll sued Trump, claiming he assaulted her in a department store dressing room in the 1990s and then hurt her reputation by attacking her allegations as a "con job" in 2022. 👉 We break it down.
