An immigration win for Trump

President Donald Trump's immigration crackdown just saw a legal win. The Supreme Court said May 19 that the Trump administration can move to strip more than 300,000 Venezuelan migrants of their temporary protected status. A federal judge back in March blocked the administration from abruptly ending the program, a move Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem had ordered in February. Temporary protected status allows migrants to live and work temporarily in the United States because of dangerous living conditions in their country. Venezuelans have been living under the autocratic regime of Nicolás Maduro for more than a decade amid runaway inflation, worsening poverty and widespread political persecution. But in February, Noem said that the immigrants burden local governments and that some Venezuelans were members of the gang Tren de Aragua. 👉 What the Supreme Court’s ruling means.

Biden's cancer diagnosis revives questions of physical fitness

Former President Joe Biden, 82, was diagnosed with an "aggressive form" of prostate cancer that has spread to the bone, a spokesperson said in a statement May 18. Though the diagnosis indicates Biden has one of the worst forms of the disease, it "appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management," the spokesperson said. 

Growing questions: Though news of Biden's diagnosis prompted a surge of sympathy – President Donald Trump, a political adversary, expressed his well-wishes to Biden – it also has revived growing questions, and even anger among some top Democrats, about his decision to run for reelection despite signs of physical frailty and the reality of advanced age. 👉 Why Biden’s diagnosis means for a Democratic reckoning.

TikTok influencer’s son dies after pool tragedy

Three-year-old Trigg Kiser, son of TikTok influencer Emilie Kiser, died May 18 after being pulled from a backyard pool days before, police in Arizona confirmed. Trigg was hospitalized after police responded to a drowning call in Chandler on May 12. The call was for a child who had been pulled unconscious from a backyard pool and then taken to the hospital, Sonu Wasu, the Chandler Police Department's public information officer, said in a statement.

Who is Emilie Kiser? Kiser, 26, is a social media influencer who shares lifestyle and vlog-style content. She has more than 3 million followers on TikTok and would often feature her family, including her husband, Brady Kiser, son Trigg and their other son, Theodore, who was born in March. 👉 What to know about the incident.

Diddy attacked Cassie, multiple witnesses say

His weapons were a wooden hanger and his hands, a witness testified at Sean "Diddy" Combs' sweeping federal sex crimes trial. Kerry Morgan, a model and former friend of Casandra "Cassie" Ventura Fine, said Combs once attacked her in Cassie's California home, choking her and hitting her in the head with a wooden hanger. Morgan also said she saw Combs assault Ventura Fine several times.
