From Olympic medal stand to MLB batters box: Eddy Alvarez lived his dreams.
From medal stand to batter's box
What's it like to live your dream? Most will never know. Eddy Alvarez, though, was fortunate to live his. Twice. First, Alvarez won a silver medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics. Then, last week, he appeared in his first big-league baseball game.
“Eddy’s a Bo Jackson-type athlete,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly said. Probably not a higher compliment for an athlete. Read more of Alvarez's story of making it to the big leagues.
The Amway Coaches Poll is back, but...
Well, the Amway Coaches Poll is back, but there's a small catch: football may not be returning. Several conferences have poured cold water on the college football's return, most notably the Big Ten's apparent decision to cancel its season this fall. The Mountain West's decision was a bit more firm: no football this fall. No one can say for certain what the season will look like, but we know it will be one unlike any other.
If it even happens.
Meanwhile, President Trump has weighed in. Mississippi's governor also wants football. His solution? Wear a mask. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh wants to play, too.
No matter how it plays out, Dan Wolken writes that the leadership in college football is getting it all wrong.
