'You are truly helping me get through this tough time': Golf world rallies around Tiger Woods after car crash
The golf world's thoughts have been with Tiger Woods this past week.
The legendary golfer suffered serious injuries – including a comminuted open fracture in his right leg that required emergency surgery – in a single-car crash last Tuesday in Southern California.
He's since been transported to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and had follow-up procedures Friday morning. He was "recovering and in good spirits," his team said.
To show support for the biggest star in the sport, players partaking in tournaments in both the PGA and LPGA sported red and black outfits Sunday – the combination Tiger has famously worn for the final day of tournaments throughout his career. Others played their rounds with his name on their golf balls.
Tiger was touched by the outpouring of love, and took to his Twitter account to share a message:
"It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts," the post on his official account read. "To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time."
The natural question for many fans is: when will the Big Cat get on the course again? Don't worry about that answer, Christine Brennan writes.
