4th & Monday: 11 NFL legends with the strangest career stops

NFL training camps are underway and a number of star players are in unfamiliar places.

Odell Beckham, Jr. is with the Cleveland Browns.

Antonio Brown is on the Oakland Raiders.

Clay Matthews is now with the Los Angeles Rams.

Earl Thomas is a member of the Baltimore Ravens.

While these are looks football fans will have to get accustomed to this season, those shifts in threads aren't nearly as unsettling as seeing an NFL legend briefly wearing the uniform of a another team.

Think Beckham on the Browns is surreal? How about these strange looks for all-time NFL greats?

Dispatches from camp

- Cowboys adjust to life without top RB: Ezekiel Elliott is holding out. However, the two-time rushing champion has prepared his teammates for this situation, with Dak Prescott delivering a message to the remaining Cowboys running backs.

- A.J. Green leaves first day of camp with injury: The Bengals' star wide receiver went down with a leg injury during training camp Saturday, and is expected to be out six to eight weeks.

- Does controversial Chiefs WR mean what he says? Tyreek Hill returns with an aim to turn his life around. But do fans care about his past? His reception at training camp seems to indicate no.

- Welcome to the Cleveland Browns, coach: None of the other new NFL coaches are under as much pressure to produce as Freddie Kitchens, who has a talented group and a lot of egos.

- Steelers gave up a bundle for rookie LB, need results: The Steelers' Devin Bush, with an NFL pedigree flowing from his father, Devin Sr., a Super Bowl-winning safety a generation ago, embraces the noise.

-  Lamar Jackson looks ready to lift Ravens: After leading the Ravens into the playoffs last season, the second-year quarterback appears more confident and ready for a heavier workload.

Monday must-reads

- Training camp no-shows: The Cowboys' Ezekiel Elliott isn't the only camp holdout. Saints WR Michael Thomas and Chargers RB Melvin Gordon also are among the notable holdouts.

- Ex-Cardinals first-round pick has been a bust since Day 1: From the time he was drafted 29th overall in 2016, Robert Nkemdiche displayed consistent indifference to becoming a productive player.

- Power rankings: Summer is over for pro football players, so it's time to assess how their teams stack up with the pads going back on and preseason only weeks away.

- Record projections: In addition to predicting all 256 regular-season games on the 2019 schedule, this also included a prognostication for the playoffs.
