Mahomes. Jackson. Danny Dimes. Is it a new era in the NFL?
The Eli Manning era in New York appears over. Daniel Jones delivered one of the most exciting finishes during Week 3 as the Giants rallied to beat the Buccaneers.
In all, 20 quarterbacks aged 26 or younger started in Week 3. That's the most in one week in the Super Bowl era.
In Kansas City, Patrick Mahomes out-dueled Lamar Jackson in a quarterback matchup fans could be enjoying for years down the line.
On Sunday night in Cleveland, 24-year-old quarterbacks Jared Goff and Baker Mayfield faced off. Both quarterbacks had uneven efforts, as Goff's Rams — thanks to a game-wrecking performance by the defensive front seven — prevailed and dropped the Browns to 1-2.
Not too long ago, the Browns were hyped as potential contenders. But now, take a peek at their upcoming schedule, and it's possible that the Browns could be in for a rough start to the season.
The Rams, meanwhile, are among eight teams that emerged from Week 3 unbeaten.

Eyes on the (fantasy) prize
Here are some fantasy football waiver-wire options to consider:
- An injury to a first-round pick can be a season-crusher in fantasy football. If it’s the No. 1 overall pick, as Saquon Barkley was in many drafts, it’s even more devastating. Barkley could be out several weeks with a high ankle sprain, putting backup Wayne Gallman firmly in the spotlight. Gallman hasn’t made much of an impact in his previous two NFL seasons, but he should get most of the backfield touches while Barkley is out.
- Barkley’s absence could put more weight on rookie quarterback Daniel Jones’ shoulders. If his debut as a starter was any indication, he should be up to the challenge. Jones was the most effective of the six new starting quarterbacks in Week 3, throwing for 336 yards and two touchdowns — and rushing for a pair of scores as well. If he’s still available, the No. 6 overall pick is definitely worth adding.
- Panthers QB Kyle Allen was also impressive starting in place of the injured Cam Newton. He threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns, including two to tight end Greg Olsen.
- While Olsen was the week’s No. 2 tight end, the Texans’ Jordan Akins put up the fifth-most fantasy points with three catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns. Teammate Darren Fells also caught five passes for 49 yards and a score.
- Among wide receivers, the Bengals’ Auden Tate had a team-leading 88 receiving yards on 10 targets. And Steelers’ rookie Dionte Johnson has moved ahead of veteran Donte Moncrief, catching three passes from new QB Mason Rudolph for 52 yards and a touchdown. There could be even more upside if he can be a viable complement to JuJu Smith-Schuster.
- And a friendly reminder, byes start in Week 4 with the Jets and 49ers off. Start planning ahead for when your starters won’t play.
