2020 NFL draft: First-round surprises and what to expect on Friday


The 2020 NFL draft kicked off Thursday night -- "virtually" -- and provided a much-needed respite during the coronavirus pandemic.

Much of the first round went as expected. Joe Burrow went first overall to the Bengals. The Redskins drafted Chase YoungJeff Okudah went to the Lions. Offensive tackle Andrew Thomas went to the Giants, followed by quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert to the Dolphins and Chargers, respectively.

Jordan Love was selected by the Packers, and that was a surprise. There also were a number of questionable picks made Thursday night.
