Sign Colin Kaepernick now, says an ex-NFL executive

Unrest has taken hold in the country amid protests against racial injustice and police brutality.

Four years ago, then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick began kneeling in peaceful protest during the pregame national anthem. Kaepernick hasn't played in the NFL since the 2016 season.

In an op-ed titled "Now is the moment to sign Colin Kaepernick" that was published Saturday, former NFL executive Joe Lockhart wrote that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell tried to persuade a team to sign the quarterback. He goes so far as to suggest that the Minnesota Vikings sign Kaepernick, given that Minneapolis is the epicenter of protests after a black man named George Floyd died in police custody Monday after a white officer knelt on his neck
