Urban Meyer lasted 13 games in failed tenure with Jacksonville Jaguars

In the wee hours of Thursday morning, Urban Meyer became the latest NFL coach to receive his pink slip for incompetence — on and off the field.

Meyer's 13-game tenure with the Jacksonville Jaguars goes into lore as not only one of the league's all-time epic coaching failures but one that will serve notice to anyone from the college ranks who might want to jump into the waters of NFL scrutiny.

If Meyer had a winning record and just a little bit of common sense, he would still have a job.

To catch fans up with news cycle surrounding Meyer, here are some of the things that happened just this month

Jacksonville was not competitive in losing 20-0 to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, rushing for eight yards and turning the ball over four times.

So what did Meyer do? He apparently missed the pleasant handshaking seminar as his postgame greetings-fest at mid-field with Titans head coach Mike Vrabel – an assistant on Meyer's staff at Ohio State – didn't go too well.

In the postgame press conference, Meyer was asked about reports of him (allegedly) getting into it with wide receiver Marvin Jones and calling his assistant coaches "losers." He said the reports were "garbage."

Here is a hit list of Meyer misdeeds during his 11 months coaching the Jaguars.

Hiring former Iowa strength and conditioning coach Chris Doyle, who had been accused of bullying and allegedly saying racist remarks.

Signing Tim Tebow as a tight end and actually thinking he would contribute.

• Violating the league's policy on contact during off-season practices, costing himself and the Jaguars $300,000 in fines.

• Staying in Ohio after a loss to Cincinnati and then patronizing his own restaurant and pretending people don't have cell phones to record his every move once he is recognized.

• Allegedly kicking former placekicker Josh Lambo while he was stretching.

• And for the final insult, offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell, who takes over as interim coach said Meyer left the team facility after practice yesterday and never returned, and left the staff to prepare for Sunday's game without him.

The 2-11 Jaguars have four games left this season.
