Kyler Murray's contract becomes talking point
Kyler Murray's new five-year, $230.5 million contract extension with the Arizona Cardinals became a real talking point when it was revealed that it had an addendum that required the quarterback to study a minimum of four hours a week.
The Cardinals later removed the addendum to Murray's contract that mandated independent study during game weeks.
Murray expressed his displeasure with the suggestions about his film study habits, saying, "I’m honestly flattered that y'all think that, at my size, I can go out there and not prepare for the game and not take it serious."
Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon came to Murray's defense, saying the study clause was "a slap in the face to all African-American quarterbacks."
- OPINION: Kyler Murray's 'study clause' represents double standard Black athletes face
- OPINION: Media, stop letting unnamed sources attack intellect, work ethic of Black athletes
