NFL teams that took major step back this offseason
Previously on 4th & Monday, Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz identified the teams that had impressive offseasons.
This week, we take a look at the teams that took a major step backward in the weeks and months since the Kansas City Chiefs hoisted the Lombardi Trophy after Super Bowl 57.
▶ Arizona Cardinals: How does a team that went 4-13 take a step back? Just look to the bleeding of what little premium talent existed on this roster.
▶ Las Vegas Raiders: It's never a good sign when a team has to clear the air about the starting quarterback it secured less than three months ago.
▶ Los Angeles Rams: The Rams have a concerning talent gulf1 after parting with the likes of Jalen Ramsey, Bobby Wagner, Leonard Floyd and Allen Robinson this offseason.
▶ Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The immediate aftermath of the Tom Brady era was always bound to make for a tough transition in Tampa, where the quarterback reins will fall to either Baker Mayfield or Kyle Trask.
▶ Tennessee Titans: The Titans look like a franchise that has only embraced the initial steps of what will become a full teardown.

1 After seven years, the Rams − barring a trade − finally will have a first-round draft pick in 2024. The Rams' last first-round pick was quarterback Jared Goff, who was the No. 1 overall selection in 2016.
2 The Vikings saved $9 million in salary cap space by cutting Cook after June 1. The team's depth chart at running back now includes Alexander Mattison, Ty Chandler, DeWayne McBride and Kene Nwangwu.
3 The Jets were featured on the 2010 edition of HBO's "Hard Knocks." It was during that season when then-head coach uttered the phrase, "Let's go eat a (expletive) snack!" Arguably the most memorable moment in the show's history.
