Winners/losers and what we learned from NFL Week 6
Week 6 of the 2023 NFL season is (almost) in the books, and just like that there are no more undefeated teams remaining.
Here are some of the most important developments from Sunday:
- This is the earliest since the 2017 season that there are no more undefeated teams. (Yes, of course, the 1972 Miami Dolphins noticed Sunday's developments. 🍾)
- While there are no more undefeated teams, the Carolina Panthers remain the league's lone winless squad after Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins.
- The Detroit Lions have scored 20 or more points in 15 consecutive games. That's the NFL's longest active streak (the Los Angeles Chargers − who play on "Monday Night Football" − are second with seven straight) and is a Lions franchise record.
- C.J. Stroud's streak without throwing an interception might be over, but the rookie quarterback (and possible early season offensive rookie of the year favorite?) has the Houston Texans in the thick of the AFC South race.
- The Kansas City Chiefs' 16-game winning streak over the Denver Broncos is tied for the third longest in league history by one team over another. (The Miami Dolphins' 20-game win streak over the Buffalo Bills in the 1970s is the longest rule by one opponent over another.)
NFL Week 6 key storylines
- Winners and losers: A couple seismic upsets and several sterling performances set the tone for Week 6, with the Lions and Jets among the teams to turn heads.
- 32 things we learned: After losses by both the 49ers and Eagles, suddenly the field feels very wide open. Who's the best team in the league now?
- Patriot Way is a far cry from what it used to be: The Patriots are 1-5 for the first time ever under Bill Belichick, and their repeated mistakes have put a serious damper on the coach's mystique, Jarrett Bell writes.
- Tyreek Hill's decision to leave Mahomes for Tua sure looks good now: Hill's move to join Tua Tagovailoa and Mike McDaniel in Miami, and leave Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid in Kansas City, has paid off after all, Safid Deen writes.
- Justin Fields suffers hand injury: As if things couldn't go worse for one of the NFL's worst teams, Fields had to leave Sunday's loss to the Vikings and was replaced by Tyson Bagent, an undrafted rookie from Division II Shepherd University.
- Jimmy Garoppolo taken to hospital: The Raiders quarterback injured his back during the first half of Sunday’s 21-17 win against his former team.
- Tyreek Hill captures celebratory backflip with selfie video: Hill scored another touchdown Sunday, and with it came another unique celebration. This time, he captured it on video himself.
- Commanders' Charles Leno Jr. sits out game after wife's miscarriage: Leno did not suit up for the team's game against the Falcons as he confronted a family tragedy.

NFL Week 6 results
- Buffalo Bills 14, New York Giants 9: The Bills survived this grind-it-out, sloppy encounter with the underdog Giants after some frenzied final moments.
- New York Jets 20, Philadelphia Eagles 14: Until today, the Jets had never defeated the Eagles.
- Los Angeles Rams 26, Arizona Cardinals 9: Rarely have the Rams run to win under head coach Sean McVay, but on this day Kyren Williams produced the Rams' best individual rushing performance in nearly three years.
- Detroit Lions 20, Tampa Bay Buccaneers 6: Due to losses by the 49ers and Eagles, the Lions now are tied for the best record in the NFC.
- Las Vegas Raiders 21, New England Patriots 17: The Raiders held on for the win, but lost quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to a back injury.
- Miami Dolphins 42, Carolina Panthers 21: After going down 14-0, the Dolphins turned on the gas en route to a rout that sets up a mouth-watering Week 7 showdown against the Eagles in Philadelphia.
- Jacksonville Jaguars 37, Indianapolis Colts 20: After becoming the first team to win back-to-back games in London, the Jaguars vaulted atop the AFC South with a ninth straight "home" win over the Colts. "Home" is in quotes because that streak vs. Indy includes a "home" game in London.
- Houston Texans 20, New Orleans Saints 13: C.J. Stroud threw his first career NFL interception, but the Texans won - thanks to the defense - to stay a game behind the division-leading Jaguars.
- Cleveland Browns 19, San Francisco 49ers 17: Key injuries and a penalty-riddled game doomed the 49ers and ended their regular-season win streak at 15 games.
- Cincinnati Bengals 17, Seattle Seahawks 13: The Bengals defense made the big plays as Cincinnati seems to be getting back on track, winning three of four after an 0-2 start.
- Minnesota Vikings 19, Chicago Bears 13: After knocking Justin Fields from the game, the Vikings held on for an ugly win at Soldier Field.
- Washington Commanders 24, Atlanta Falcons 16: The Commanders rebounded nicely from getting embarrassed by the hapless Bears on "Thursday Night Football," intercepting Falcons QB Desmond Ridder three times in this victory.
- Baltimore Ravens 24, Tennessee Titans 16 (in London): As the Ravens offense repeatedly stalled in the red zone, kicker Justin Tucker benefitted with one of his best days.
- Kansas City Chiefs 19, Denver Broncos 8 (Thursday): Yes, the Chiefs have now won 16 straight games against the Broncos. This "Thursday Night Football" game wasn't pretty by any means, the Chiefs stumbling in the red zone all night.
