NFL Super Wild Card Weekend: Eh, Cowboys, what was that?
Super Wild Card Weekend so far has featured a big upset and a historic victory for a long-suffering franchise.
And football fans have two more wild-card playoff games to look forward to Monday.
Detroit Lions 24, Los Angeles Rams 23 — The Lions won a playoff game for the first time in 32 years, and collected just the franchise's second postseason win since the 1957 NFL championship game. The Rams, meanwhile, will rue their missed opportunities in the red zone in a one-point loss.
Green Bay Packers 48, Dallas Cowboys 32 — The young Packers thoroughly dismantled the NFC's No. 2 playoff seed in the weekend's most surprising result. The Cowboys' meltdown was so startling that the team likely will be pondering a possible change at head coach. Could we possibly see Bill Belichick roaming the sidelines next season at AT&T Stadium?
Kansas City Chiefs 26, Miami Dolphins 7 — In one of the coldest playoff games in NFL history, the Chiefs dispatched the Dolphins, whose postseason win drought now hits 23 seasons. For the sixth consecutive season, the Chiefs will play on divisional playoff weekend.
Houston Texans 45, Cleveland Browns 14 — By now, Cleveland fans are used to NFL playoff disappointment. This collapse in Houston is just the latest in a long line of Browns postseason debacles. While veteran Joe Flacco threw two pick-sixes, C.J. Stroud − at 22 years, 102 days − became the youngest quarterback to collect a postseason win.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills (Monday at 4:30 p.m. ET on CBS) — A massive snowstorm necessitated the rescheduling of this game. In each of these two teams' prior playoff meetings, the winner has advanced to the Super Bowl.
Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Monday at 8:15 p.m. ET on ABC/ESPN) — The defending NFC champion Eagles limp into this game having lost five of their last six games. Things have gotten so bad in Philly that it's being suggested that head coach Nick Sirianni has his job on the line. It might be hard to believe, but the Buccaneers have the NFC's longest active playoff appearance streak at four.
