'The Jets kind of owe us one': 2024 NFL schedule takeaways

Aaron Rodgers joining the New York Jets last season meant a bunch of the team's games were forced in front of a national television (or streaming in the case of the Black Friday game) audience in 2023.

Rodgers' injury four snaps into his Jets tenure in 2023 meant a whole lotta prime-time snaps for now-jettisoned quarterbacks Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle.

Well, with Rodgers expected back in 2024, the NFL schedule-makers made sure to front load this season's slate with plenty of prime-time Jets games. That means that if you're a Jets hater or a Jets player, the NFL schedule makers did you no favors.

Check out this prime-time slate for the Jets in 2024:

If you're counting at home, that's six prime-time games before Thanksgiving.

"That's an awful lot of prime-time games early in the season, but, obviously, I feel like the Jets kind of owe us one," league vice president of broadcast planning Mike North said on a conference call with reporters the day after the 2024 NFL schedule was released.

Chiefs' Harrison Butker causes stir with commencement speech

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker caused an uproar after speaking during a commencement ceremony at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas last weekend.

Butker, who holds Super Bowl records for longest field goal and most career field goals, spoke out against Pride Month, the transgender community, COVID-19 and even the role of women.

While the NFL distanced itself from the controversial comments, the Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica denounced Butker's speech, saying they "reject a narrow definition of what it means to be Catholic."

And they are … something else!

Quite frankly, we've seen way worse.
