NFL Week 10 is here. Our robust weekly preview smorgasbord includes (but is not exclusive to):
➤ About last night: Baltimore Ravens 35, Cincinnati Bengals 34 — This one got wild, as big plays decided this AFC North showdown that did not disappoint. The second half featured three touchdowns of 67 or more yards. The talking point, however, will be the Bengals' two-point conversion attempt to take a late lead. No penalties were called on a play that appeared to have multiple infractions. The Ravens (7-3) held on to keep pace with the division-leading Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Bengals (4-6) continue to creep further out of the playoff picture.
- Why did Bengals go for two late in fourth quarter?
- Ravens appear to get away with late penalties
- Winners and losers from Ravens' thrilling TNF win vs. Bengals
- Ravens All-Pro safety Kyle Hamilton suffers ankle injury
➤ Game of the week: Pittsburgh Steelers at Washington Commanders — The first of two Week 10 matchups between first-place teams — the other is Detroit Lions at Houston Texans on "Sunday Night Football." The Commanders (7-2) lead a contingent of six teams that missed the playoffs last season but possess a winning record going into this weekend — the others are the Arizona Cardinals (5-4), Atlanta Falcons (6-3), Denver Broncos (5-4), Los Angeles Chargers (5-3) and Minnesota Vikings (6-2). The Steelers (6-2) storm into this one coming off their bye week and after being an active participant in the league's trade market. Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels — the clear favorite for offensive rookie of the year honors — gets another test against the Steelers defense.
➤ Sneaky-good game of the week: Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs — The Chiefs have owned this AFC West rivalry during the past decade, winning 16 of 17 matchups dating back to the 2015 season. That one loss came in the most recent meeting, however, during Week 8 of last season. The Chiefs might be 8-0, but they have six one-score victories. Maybe rookie quarterback Bo Nix and a solid Broncos defense can help Denver rebound from last week's debacle and make a game of this one, too. The Chiefs are vying to become the fifth defending Super Bowl champion to win its first nine games — 2015 New England Patriots, 2011 Green Bay Packers, 1998 Denver Broncos and 1990 San Francisco 49ers are the others.
➤ Dreadful game of the week: New York Giants vs. Carolina Panthers — The NFL owes its dedicated fans in Munich an apology for this matchup.
➤ Game I'm mildly interested in, and not just because I have Matthew Stafford on my fantasy team: Miami Dolphins at Los Angeles Rams — The desperate Dolphins (2-6) are in must-win mode from here on out. The simultaneous returns of wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua has sparked a three-game winning streak for the Rams (4-4), who once looked lost in the wilderness but now have a pathway to the playoffs.
➤ Just going to rank some games I'm interested in watching without giving any context:
- Detroit Lions at Houston Texans
- San Francisco 49ers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
- New York Jets at Arizona Cardinals
- New England Patriots at Chicago Bears
- Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
➤ Don't forget to set your alarm ⏰, there's a game in Germany on Sunday: New York Giants vs. Carolina Panthers — Sorry, Munich. Two last-place teams with a combined record of 4-14 will meet in the NFL's final International Game of the 2024 season at Allianz Arena, regular home of Bayern Munich of the German Bundesliga. The Giants played in the first International Series game, which was back in 2007 when they defeated the Miami Dolphins at Wembley Stadium. For the Panthers, this is just their second International Series game; the first was a win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Hotspur Stadium in 2019.

➤ What's next for Dak Prescott, Cowboys? Dallas will apparently protect its injured quarterback, if largely from himself. On Wednesday, NFL Network reported that Prescott suffered a partial avulsion of his hamstring tendon, meaning a portion of it was torn off the bone.

This is where we reprise some NFL lore and recall a classic, memorable game from yesteryear that featured Week 10 opponents.
The Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs square off this weekend, and these two longtime rivals — whose series dates back to the first season of the American Football League in 1960 — have played many memorable games over six-plus decades. The most memorable might have been in 1994, when two Hall of Fame quarterbacks dueled in an epic "Monday Night Football" encounter at Mile High Stadium.
John Elway vs. Joe Montana lived up to the pregame hype, and produced one of the greatest regular-season games in league history.
Down 24-21 with four minutes left in the game, Elway — one of the game's greatest comeback artists — drove the Broncos down the field and scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 4-yard rush. Enter Montana, whose Chiefs got the ball with a bit more than a minute left, down 28-24 and needing to go 75 yards for a touchdown. Montana led a nine-play drive that culminated in a 5-yard touchdown pass to receiver Willie Davis in the final seconds.
After the winning touchdown, ABC color commentator (and also Hall of Famer) Dan Dierdorf uttered the unforgettable line, "Lord, you can take me now, I've seen it all."
The Chiefs won the dramatic game, 31-28, but both teams went on to have unremarkable 1994 seasons. While the Broncos would finish 7-9, the Chiefs (9-7) were a wild-card team that lost its playoff opener in what was Montana's final NFL game.
