The Philadelphia Eagles denied the Kansas City Chiefs in their quest to be the first Super Bowl three-peat winner.
The Eagles dominated the Chiefs in one of the most impressive performances in Super Bowl history.
Quarterback Jalen Hurts earned game MVP honors and now he can finally change his cellphone lock screen photo.
The game was trending toward all-time Super Bowl blowout contention well before Kendrick Lamar took the stage for the halftime show. Two garbage-time touchdowns from the Chiefs late in the game made the final score – 44-22 – look much closer than than the game actually was.
The Eagles' formula for success this season was simple: Possess strong defensive and offensive lines, have two game-breaking wide receivers, have a dynamic dual-threat quarterback, sign the NFL's best running back as a free agent from a division rival.
For the Chiefs, this was an absolute embarrassment. The two-time defending champions couldn't get their offense going against an Eagles defense playing with bad intentions until it was way too late. Now one must wonder how the Chiefs recover from this debacle. As Paste BN Sports' Nate Davis writes:
From emotional and personnel perspectives – to say nothing of several rising powers in the AFC to contend with – the reanimation of the Chiefs could take a while. If it happens at all.
