Coronavirus Watch: Trump considers quarantine in NY, NJ, CT

President Donald Trump says he's considering imposing a two-week quarantine on New York and parts of New Jersey and Connecticut to help contain the rapid spread of the coronavirus.

"We might not have to do it, but there's a possibility that sometime today we'll do a quarantine," he told reporters this morning.

It's Saturday, and this is Coronavirus Watch from the Paste BN Network.

Hector from Miami, Florida, asks: Once infected, how long does it take to recover?

We know that the time between catching the virus and beginning to show symptoms ranges from one to 14 days, most commonly around five days, according to the World Health Organization. Information about how long it takes to recover is still preliminary, but a WHO study of cases in China published last month found that:

  • For mild cases, the median time from symptom onset to recovery is about two weeks.
  • The time from symptom onset to the development of severe disease is one week.
  • For patients with severe or critical disease, the median recovery time is three to six weeks.
  • Among patients who have died, the time from symptom onset to death ranges from two to eight weeks.
