Coronavirus Watch: Mask or no mask on airplanes?
Another day, another battle over face masks. A man was removed from an American Airlines flight yesterday after he refused to comply with the flight crew's request he wear a mask.
So, what actually is the law?
The Federal Aviation Administration said Wednesday it won't require masks on commercial aircraft, instead leaving it up to airlines to make a decision.
It's Thursday, and this is the Coronavirus Watch from the Paste BN Network. Here are today's most significant developments, as of 1 p.m. ET:
- Confirmed cases in the United States are more than 2.1 million, according to the Johns Hopkins University dashboard. America's death toll is nearing 118,000. Track the outbreak in your state here.
- Cases are spiking nationally, but not in Ohio: Over the past six weeks, Ohio has gradually lifted restrictions and the result has been a plateau in newly reported cases and a decline in hospitalizations.
- FYI: Employers cannot require COVID-19 antibody testing for employees returning to work, the EEOC says, but they can require other things of you.
- Unemployment update: Jobless claims are declining but 1.5 million workers filed for unemployment last week for the first time. Over the last 13 weeks, 45 million people have made claims.
