Coronavirus Watch: Here's some promising vaccine news
A vaccine candidate showed positive trial results Monday, raising hopes that a vaccine can be released quickly and effectively.
AZD-1222, the candidate vaccine being developed by the University of Oxford and drug company Astra Zeneca, yielded strong immune responses for nearly two months as the trial tracks more than 1,000 adults. More on that vaccine candidate, right here.

- President Donald Trump laid out his essential demands for another coronavirus stimulus bill as Congress begins additional economic relief. The $600 boost in unemployment benefits from the last relief bill is set to expire at the end of the month.
- At least 120,000 volunteers are needed for vaccine trials. Already, 107,000 have signed up.
- The NFL and NFL Players Association are closing in on a deal to play the 2020 season, but one infectious disease expert says it still might not happen.
- Numbers check: The U.S. was approaching 3.8 million cases of COVID-19, while more than 140,000 have died. Globally, 14.5 million have been infected and 607,000 have died, per Johns Hopkins University data. Keep track of the numbers in your area right here.
