Coronavirus Watch: Why don't we have quicker tests?

Many people with COVID-19 don't know they have it. Others find out too late, after they've already infected others.

There are issues with the current landscape of testing, but a test that's faster, cheaper and easier could soon be on its way. More on that right here.

It's Sunday, and this is Coronavirus Watch from the Paste BN Network. Here's the news to know today, as of 1:30 p.m. ET. 

• Texas and Hawaii have two big threats on their hands: hurricanes and COVID-19. Hanna, the first hurricane of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season, made landfall in Texas Saturday afternoon as a Category 1 storm. Meanwhile, Hurricane Douglas is heading for Hawaii and is expected to hit the islands Sunday and Monday.
• These six charts show how rebounding from the pandemic-induced recession could be a slog for the next several months.
• The pandemic has been a disaster for those with disabilities. But without this law, which turns 30 years old today, it could be a whole lot worse. 
• This is the first weekend with regular season MLB baseball since 2019, and it looks a lot different in its return. With no fans in the stands, trash talk between dugouts could be as present as ever. Meanwhile, a Cincinnati Reds player tested positive for COVID-19 a day after playing on Opening Day. 
• Numbers check: Nearly 4.2 million people have been infected with COVID-19 in the US, while 146,000 have died. Globally, 16 million have tested positive, and 645,000 have died, per Johns Hopkins University data. Keep track of the data in your area right here.
