Coronavirus Watch: President Trump, first lady test positive

President Donald Trump revealed early Friday that he and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. White House officials said Trump was "feeling mild symptoms" on Friday, hours after the announcement.

This is the Coronavirus Watch from the Paste BN Network. Here is what we know, as of 10:30 a.m. ET:

  • Trump tweeted just before 1 a.m. EDT Friday: "Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"
  • Melania Trump followed up with a tweet confirming their diagnosis and added: "Please be sure you are staying safe & we will all get through this together.”
  • The tweets came hours after Hope Hicks, a White House aide with whom he had recently traveled, had also tested positive.
  • According to their spokespeople, tests have come back negative from Vice President Mike Pence and his wife, Karen; Ivanka Trump and her husband, Trump senior adviser Jared Kushner; and Barron Trump, the 14-year-old son of the president and first lady.
  • Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who was with Trump on Saturday when she was nominated, has tested negative, according to a White House spokesperson.
