Coronavirus Watch: Decline in US cases appears to have leveled off
The recent sharp decline in COVID-19 cases appears to have leveled off in the U.S., and more than half of states are showing increases in week-over-week case counts.
The country also reported a record increase in variant cases on Sunday – many of which are the B.1.1.7 variant first seen in the United Kingdom.
It's Monday, and this is Coronavirus Watch from the Paste BN Network. Here's more news to know today, as of 1:45 p.m. EST.
- Johnson & Johnson's one-shot COVID-19 vaccine, fresh off of emergency use authorization from the Food and Drug Administration, hit the distribution trail Sunday as nearly 4 million doses are expected to be dispersed evenly across the country.
- Paste BN found 175 hospitals were reporting full intensive care units as of Feb. 25. Though still a dire situation, that represents a drop of nearly 50% from early January. Here is where you can search to see whether hospitals in your area are being overwhelmed.
- Large pharmacies like CVS and Walgreens are ramping up vaccine distribution, but what about local ones? Community pharmacies, which could play a critical role in delivering shots, want in on the action.
