Coronavirus Watch: What does victory against the pandemic look like?


The sharp decline of COVID-19's third wave in the United States and the gradual increase of vaccine rollout around the country have offered Americans a share of optimism in the fight against the pandemic.

But what does victory look like?

Paste BN's panel of experts have different definitions of what the end of the pandemic means. One says its signified by the wiping out of the virus. Others say it means bringing coronavirus in line with other diseases humans have learned to coexist with. But, they agree it's getting closer.

  • A new study suggests people who felt five or more symptoms in the first week of COVID-19 infection were more likely to become "long haulers." The study showed five symptoms were most predictive: fatigue, headache, hoarse voice, muscle pain and difficulty breathing.
  • Denmark suspended use of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine as authorities investigate reports of patients developing life-threatening blood clots after vaccination.
