Coronavirus Watch: Moderna receives full FDA approval

Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine has received full approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the company announced Monday.

The decision comes more than a year after the vaccine was first granted "emergency use authorization" by the FDA. Moderna's is the second vaccine to receive full approval from the agency after Pfizer's vaccine received full approval for those 16 and up in August.

Moderna's approval is for individuals 18 and older in the two-dose primary series for vaccination. The booster dose is available under emergency use authorization.
