Never stop being a good person because of bad people
Happy Friday and welcome to this week's Humankind newsletter. Iβm your kindness correspondent, Terry Baddoo, here to guide you through my favorite feel-good stories of the week.
One of the stories I like best involves one of the most special moments any person can experience - a marriage proposal. π This one was incredibly creative. Taboo has been a game night favorite for decades. The aim is to have players guess the words on a series of cards without using the actual words themselves. πββοΈ Daunta Bell was playing Taboo with his girlfriend, Christina Hopkins, at her birthday party surrounded by friends. π Daunta gave the game a surprise ending nobody expected.π
Earlier this week, I was scrolling through my social media feed π± when a post caught my eye. It said, βNever stop being a good person because of bad people. Agree?β Happily, the majority of commenters did agree, with many claiming that good deeds and kindness are our natural default. We couldn't agree more. You can find kindness if you look for it or better yet, share it with someone else. π
Next week is a very special week that is close to our hearts, Teacher Appreciation Week! π©βπ« π¨πΎβπ« Whether or not you are in school, have children in school, or know a teacher or two... be sure to share words of kindness and appreciation with the educators in your life. Or, if you're so inclined, maybe give the teacher in your life a new car like this parent! Also, tomorrow is National Fitness Day, a chance to try out new ways to get fitter and healthier. ποΈββοΈ So, whether youβre a gym rat (or a high-fiving gym cat), couch potato, or somewhere in between, be kind to yourself and explore some sort of exercise. ππ½ββοΈ
My other must-see moments of this week are below πππ including a proud father who can't contain himself when his daughter tells him whether or not she passed the bar; a mom who just won Mom of the Year π for surprising her daughter with Taylor Swift tickets, the unveiling of an inspirational sculpture dedicated to civil rights icon, Coretta Scott Kingππ½, and an update on our favorite 40-pound cat. Until next time! Β Β
