Raccoons love donuts as much as we do 🍩

Hello, and welcome to the latest edition of the Humankind newsletter. I’m your kindness correspondent, Terry Baddoo, and on National Donut Day, we’ve got some sweet treats sprinkled with kindness, cuteness, heroics, and just plain awesomeness! 💥

My favorite story is about as timely as it gets. Raccoons are among nature's scavengers, taking what food they can find without anyone's permission. But one little raccoon has apparently learned some manners. Filmed outside a donut shop, the cute little fella appeared to politely request a donut 🍩 at the drive-thru window and was rewarded when the server handed him one, to the amazement of the customers waiting in the line behind.

Now, without further ado, scroll down to see more of this week’s tasty tidbits, including amazing footage of a fearless dog who gave a curious bear 🐻 his marching orders when it entered his family’s home. Elsewhere, a Goldendoodle had a cute reaction to getting a gift-wrapped puppy 🎁 as his new best friend. We’ve also got a moving moment from the Magic Kingdom, where Mickey Mouse had a trick up his sleeve for the children of a Marine 🇺🇸, and have some tissues at the ready for a one-of-a-kind mother-son wedding dance that tugged at the heartstrings. Lastly, a record-setting sprinter left her prom date in the dust 🏃‍♀️ en route to what could become a glorious Olympic career. Enjoy!
