NBA Click & Roll: Is this the beginning of the end for the Warriors?
Welcome to Paste BN Sports' NBA Click & Roll newsletter.
This is where we bring you content from across the Paste BN Network, catching you up on the biggest moments, quotes and news from the week.
BEDLAM BY THE BAY
- Turns out everything in Golden State may not be OK after Monday night's heated verbal exchange between Draymond Green and Kevin Durant. Green was suspended by the Warriors for Tuesday night's game for conduct "detrimental to the team," and reports suggest he repeatedly called Durant "a (expletive)" and called out the former MVP for his handling of his impending free agency.
- Durant insists the team is "trying to move on," but it may not be that easy — especially if Durant's brother continues to take apparent shots at Green on Instagram.
- This is hardly the first time Green has been involved in troublesome situations. Here are four more.
QUICK DISH: THINGS YOU MAY HAVE MISSED
- JIMMY GOES EAST: Finally! The Jimmy Butler saga has come to an end. Now that he's in Philadelphia, all eyes are on the Sixers, who may be the favorite to make it out of the Eastern Conference. Still, Sixers GM Elton Brand says he's "a little nervous" about whether the trade is going to work out.
- WYD, MARKELLE? Another move by Philly that has yet to work out: Drafting Markelle Fultz. Last year's No. 1 overall pick is now out of the starting lineup, and after his bizarre pump-fake free-throw attempt, maybe it's for the best.
- MEMOIRS OF MELO: Carmelo Anthony's short time in Houston may be nearing its end — even if Rockets GM Daryl Morey says otherwise. Ex-NBA star Stephen Jackson says Melo is being "blackballed," while Dwyane Wade says the Rockets are trying to make Melo "the fall guy" for their struggles and are taking "the easy way out."
- BABY FLASH: Congrats to D-Wade and Gabrielle Union, who last week announced the birth of their "miracle baby," born via surrogate. Union, who over the years has opened up about her struggles with infertility, described it as "the most loveliest of all the lovely days."
- JIMMER TIME: Former BYU standout and NBA journeyman Jimmer Fredette dropped 75 points (!!!) in a Chinese Basketball Association game on Sunday, and his team still lost, 137-136.
- DO IT FOR THE CITY: All 30 Nike City Edition uniforms for this season have been released, and some of them (we're looking at you, Miami and OKC) are absolutely incredible.
- ON A ROLL: The Lakers have won five of their last six games — the most recent of which came on Tyson Chandler's game-saving block vs. Atlanta. LeBron admitted he "almost cracked" during the team's slow start, so, yeah ... this streak couldn't come at a better time.
- SLOWLY BUT SURELY? Another team that appears to be headed in the right direction, albeit rather slowly: The Knicks, who are, at the very least, intent on sticking to a plan, starting with a shared vision between the front office and coach David Fizdale. A look inside the rebuilding process.
- NOT AGAIN: Nets guard Caris LeVert, in the midst of a breakout season, on Monday night suffered a gruesome leg injury reminiscent of Gordon Hayward's. But somehow, he avoided a devastating outcome, and he's expected to return at some point this season.
- POPCORN PRANK: What's worse than finding your car filled to the roof with popcorn? Finding your $140,000 Audi R8 filled to the roof with popcorn. We feel for you, Trae Young.
ENOUGH
- LeBron once again spoke out against gun violence this week, saying, "It’s just very troubling times for everyone. You know, as parents, how can you be comfortable sending your kids to school or send them to church or send them to the movies or send them to the mall?’’
- LeBron's Lakers (and other teams across the league) also shared a strong message during pregame warm-ups, wearing black shirts with “ENOUGH.” written on the front and names of the victims of last week's Thousand Oaks shooting on the back.
