So, wait ... what's happening with the conventions?

What is going on with the presidential conventions? Good question.

It's been a ride.

The Democrats announced last month they would dramatically scale back their August event in Milwaukee: Smaller venue, few additional events to party business and quite possibly no delegates. Former Vice President Joe Biden has said he intends to be in Milwaukee to accept the nomination.

After originally planning to host their events in Charlotte, N.C., Republicans last month announced they would be moving President Donald Trump's acceptance speech and some other events to Jacksonville, Florida.

But this week, news started to trickle out about what exactly that would look like, with Paste BN's John Fritze, David Jackson and Joey Garrison reporting "Republicans scrambling to organize a four-day 'celebration' in Florida in which President Donald Trump is set to accept the GOP presidential nomination face considerable uncertainty because of the coronavirus and may be forced to scale the festivities back to a single day."

Hours later, the Republican National Committee announced their convention would utilize several venues and only delegates would be allowed in the venues until the final night, when Trump is expected to accepted the nomination.

“I want to make clear that we still intend to host a fantastic convention celebration in Jacksonville,” RNC chair Ronna McDaniel said. “The RNC is working around the clock to ensure the convention celebration in Jacksonville is still an exciting, premier event.”

So, what about the Democrats? Well, there's still a lot we don't know.
