Trump's MAGA movement is dead
When I hear Republicans say they’ve learned from their failures in the past three national elections and are ready to move on from Donald Trump by embracing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, my initial reaction is: HAHAHAHAHAAAA!
My next reaction is: Oh, wait. You’re serious?
DeSantis is every bit as divisive as Trump — from pushing anti-LGBT policies to promoting vaccine skepticism — but not nearly as charismatic.
Trump, for as much as I can’t stand him, was a celebrity and a household name for decades. DeSantis is largely unknown outside Florida, and he has the personality of a toad who had his personality removed.
That’s the guy Republicans think will help them appeal to more voters?
Nah. I know what the GOP needs if it wants to stay relevant. As I explain in today’s column, the party needs to find its own Joe Biden.
