Stories of Home and More - Why watch Storytellers Project in October

Home

Oct. 19, 2021 at 4 p.m. PT / 7 p.m. ET

Home could be where you grew up, where you settled as an adult or the feeling of home you establish with your loved ones. When Chanda McGuffin thinks about home, the 49-year-old Waynesboro, Virginia, resident thinks of her father. Her dad affectionately called her Lil Warrior when she went off to college. He wanted her to be strong as she entered adulthood and embarked on her own life. But he also needed to be strong — to fight his demons. McGuffin will share her story of home and the impact her father had on her — in life and in death  She will be joined by:

  • Ashley Harbinson, 37, Lancaster, Pennsylvania
  • Leesa McGregor, 44, Vancouver, Canada
  • Dawn Olsen, 33, of Indianapolis
  • Sean Ewart, 52, of Los Angeles
  • Look for our story in Paste BN later this month

A sneak peek

Soon we will be sharing news about our 2022 season and it's full of surprises that we think you'll like. We are sworn to secrecy, but what we can say (drum roll, please!) is that we are expanding into 10 new cities. Expect an announcement in the coming weeks about where and which newsrooms will be involved. We are training dozens of journalists and editors across the country to coach, emcee and produce these shows, bringing 500 true, first-person stories that create empathy, change and community connection. We are truly honored and humbled that Paste BN Network's newsroom leaders have placed their trust in us to bring the Storytellers Project to their communities.

Tune In

Remember, you can catch our remaining virtual shows on our Special Storytellers Project Portal, or subscribe to our Storytellers Project's YouTube channel and Facebook page. Be sure to click "Subscribe" on YouTube or get "Reminders" on Facebook so you can get a notification the moment we go live!

National Newspapers Week

In honor of National Newspapers Week, kicking off on Oct. 3, we are sharing this story by Peter Bhatia, a multiple Pulitzer Prize-winning editor and vice president of the Detroit Free Press, from our "Stories About Stories" virtual show in 2020. National Newspaper Week is held the first Sunday in October to recognize the service of newspapers and their staff. You can thank the work of your local journalists and news organizations by purchasing a subscription to your local newspaper and support the Storytellers Project by subscribing to Paste BN. Also, follow #JournalismMatters, #NewspapersMatter and #NationalNewspaperWeek on Twitter to show your support.

National Hispanic Heritage Month

In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, we invite you to listen to five illuminating stories told as part of our "I am Hispanic" show. If you are curious why the celebration starts mid-month, check out this article from CNN.
