As 2021 comes to a close and we wrap up our virtual season, we want to express our gratitude for you tuning in. We saw huge audience numbers, especially on Facebook as we streamed live on our channel, Paste BN's and other pages affiliated with newsrooms across the Paste BN Network. Our online audiences really rallied around our "Outdoors Adventures" show on Sept. 14 and "School Stories" on Aug. 26 as we reached over 100,000 people and had more than 400 reactions on Facebook for each show. Thank you for your support of all of our virtual shows during the pandemic. We hope we brought you comfort and human connection at a time when when we all had to take a step back to stay safe.
Celebrating the holidays
The holidays are upon us and to celebrate we are sharing "12 Stories of the Holidays" on social media. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see our curated stories as we celebrate the season through storytelling.
Stories from our Facebook group
In November, we asked our peeps hanging out in Storytellers Project Extended Visit for their favorite holiday memories. Ruchi Garg Kalra and John Jay Pelletier, both Arizonians, answered the call. Ruchi wrote: "It was my second year in the U.S. I was 17 and visiting my brother in NYC for the first time. What an experience — from hearing the Salvation Army bell ringers to seeing the the crowds at Macy's to watching the ice skaters at Rockefeller Center. Every Christmas, I virtually catch myself revisiting NYC. One day." John shared: "I’m 5 years old and my family of 10 is spending Christmas at our grandparents' in Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick, Canada. Us little ones get to pick the Christmas tree with Grandpapa. The one we choose happens to be too tall. Grandpa cut a hole in the ceiling, (so we) would have a 3-foot Christmas tree upstairs all to ourselves. Always remember that Christmas."
Refugee stories
Human Rights Day on Dec. 10 aims to bring awareness about the progress made since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted in 1948 while also recognizing that in some countries these rights are still not acknowledged. In honor of this day, we share with you two refugee stories from Grace Htee, who had lived in a refugee camp in Thailand, and Ella Richards who relocated from the Soviet Union. Learn about their struggles, hopes and dreams.
