Biden says he could have won the election. He's delusional.
There isn’t a politician or entertainer on the planet who can match the hubris and delusion of an outgoing president with nothing to lose.
Nothing proves that more than the exclusive sit-down interview Paste BN’s Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page did with President Joe Biden.
In the interview, Biden discussed his legacy, age and relationships with foreign leaders. All to be expected. But he said a few things that made me raise my eyebrows. A lot.
Biden told Page he is “considering preemptive pardons for public figures such as former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney and former senior health official Dr. Anthony Fauci who have been threatened with investigation and prosecution by incoming president Donald Trump.”
Fauci, as I recently wrote in a column, is the last person on the planet who should be preemptively pardoned.
But that wasn’t even the worst thing that Biden said. The president revealed to Page that he still thinks he could have won the 2024 election.
"It's presumptuous to say that, but I think yes," Biden said.
But then he admitted that he wasn’t confident he would have the vigor or health to remain in office for four more years.
"I don't know," he told Page.
The Democratic Party forced Biden out of office because they feared he couldn’t win reelection. And voters turned against Biden in part because of their concerns about his mental and physical health.
The idea that Biden could have won reelection is so delusional it’s hilarious.
My latest: My heart breaks as Los Angeles burns. But where are the city's leaders?
Finally, Biden told Page he thinks the last four years went well and he hopes he’ll have a positive legacy.
"I hope that history says that I came in and I had a plan how to restore the economy and reestablish America's leadership in the world," Biden said. "That was my hope. I mean, you know, who knows? And I hope it records that I did it with honesty and integrity, that I said what was on my mind."
That is an extraordinary assertion from a man whose domestic and international failures have been well documented.
When I think of Biden’s legacy, honesty and integrity don’t come to mind. Two words that do are incompetent and delusional.

- Republicans picked Johnson as House speaker. But they also sent him a message.
