Media lied about Biden. I don't trust them to cover Trump.

President Donald Trump has had a banner week. From brokering a temporary trade deal with China to the inflation rate coming in lower than expected, Trump is completing his agenda, rebuilding our economy and making history while doing it.

Progressives don’t see it that way, of course. Democrats, in fact, still seem consumed with the 2024 election, which is now more than six months in the rearview mirror. And they’re all over the map about how to deal with Trump as a result.

During a recent interview with ABC’s “The View,” Joe Biden said he still thinks he could have won the 2024 election.

That is nonsense. Biden was not in good enough mental and physical health to serve a second term – and many Americans knew it before Election Day.

Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again,” a book written by journalists Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson, will be released next week. According to Tapper and Thompson, Biden’s closest aides and family members knew that the president’s physical and mental health were in decline. But they tried to cover it up so he could stay in power.

Biden’s decline seemed obvious a year ago. I even wrote a column in June 2024 saying Biden was clearly unwell. We may never know just how much Biden’s inner circle knew and when. But covering up the commander in chief’s decline was a national security threat and an enormous disservice to the public.

But what does that have to do with Trump?

There’s a lesson here as Trump’s second term unfolds. The biases of the left-leaning mainstream media, coupled with Democratic operatives’ cover-up regarding Biden’s health, show that we can’t always believe what we read and hear. That means, we can’t believe everything they say about Trump.

I’d love to know what you think about the cover-up of Biden’s health and how the media cover Trump. Email me at nrussell@gannett.com.
