82K Ukrainians settle in the US

More than 82,000 Ukrainians and their immediate family members have relocated to the United States under the United for Ukraine program, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services reports.

Hi, it's Julius with an update on Ukraine.

The "U4U" program allows Ukrainians to stay in the U.S. for two years. According to the United Nations, nearly 8 million Ukrainians, or 20% of the population, have fled since Russia invaded in February. Most have settled, at least temporarily, in Poland and other European countries.

And according to a new Ukrainian report, at least 13,000 children have been abducted from their homes and moved to Russia.

“And this, unfortunately, is not the final figure,” said Daria Herasymchuk, Ukraine’s presidential advisor for children’s rights and rehabilitation. “We still have to learn about at least tens of thousands of Ukrainian children who were stolen by the Russian authorities.”
