#tellusatoday: Do you agree with Obama's gun proposal?
We asked our followers on Twitter whether they agreed with President Obama's proposals on gun control. Comments are edited for clarity and grammar:
I agree with strengthening current laws with tougher penalties. We need a universal background check. I also agree with involvement of the mental health community.

I don't agree with Obama's gun-control proposal. It will solve nothing. Only criminals will have guns.
— @Samfor3
I would allow any place in this country to be protected by concealed carry holders. Criminals will always break the law. I'm satisfied with current laws.
— @HarpAmyStabler
As a sportsman and gun owner, I see no need for an assault weapon or 10-plus-round clip. It's overkill in a sick way.
— @JimmyCLewis
The problem wasn't the guns. The issue is to make it safer for children and teachers.
— @GONJI_YOUNGREMO
These measures will stop nothing. Our culture must stop its obsession with violence and pharmaceuticals.
— @TreeofLife4444
It is about time, and these are good first steps. Now Congress should do its job and stop the National Rifle Association madness.
— @gmindor
Crazy people went into schools/public places and killed. All this will do is give them fewer bullets to do it.
