Repeat of nightclub fires seems likely: #tellusatoday
We asked our followers on Twitter whether they thought a nightclub fire like the one in Brazil could happen here again. Comments are edited for clarity and grammar:
Yes! Many small Boston clubs and lounges are downstairs with fire exits that are not very visible.

Hopefully not. We have exit signs above doors that are required by code, among other regulations, to protect us.
— @thomasewalter
Yes, it could happen again. Always check exits in a crowded place.
— @jocelynmaminta
It's highly unlikely in a major city. There are too many building codes, and fire marshals are very persistent about capacity.

Fire still consumes, and nightclubs are still flammable. Yes, it could probably still happen today, unfortunately.
— @cortgatliff
As long as there is a greedy owner willing to oversell for some extra cash, it can and will happen.
— @punchthecore
Sadly, I have no doubt that it will happen again. Reading John Barylick's book "Killer Show" about the 2003 nightclub fire in Rhode Island reveals all the reasons.
