Is outrage over Yahoo decision misplaced? #tellusatoday
We asked our followers on Twitter what they thought of Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer's decision to end telecommuting. Comments from Twitter are edited for clarity and grammar:
Marissa Mayer is doing what she thinks is right for her company. If employees don't like it, they don't have to live with it.
— @lorirusso
What if Mayer were a man? Would the outrage be different?
— @ljpr
It seems shortsighted for a "new tech" company to promote such an old model of doing business.
— @cschillig
I work at home and am grateful for that. I am very productive and disciplined about my schedule. I don't need a boss next to me to do that.
— @ALSAssistiveTec
Inflexible companies are aware that they are limiting their talent pool by such decisions, but competitors may be grateful.
— @ktsword
I think it's a great move. People get too distracted at home. Keep work at work and home at home.
— @jjcub3d
We need to have a less lazy world and end telecommuting. Yahoo is going to help this. Maybe more companies will follow.
— @booboo3114
Such policy decisions adversely affect not only working moms but all employees.
