Lessons from Mark Sanford's comeback? #tellusatoday
Mark Sanford won a special election Tuesday, restarting his public career after a scandal in 2009. What does his win tell us about politics? Comments from Twitter:
The Sanford win says a lot about South Carolina. Voters blew a chance to move forward.

Why do we set higher moral standards for politicians? Everyday people do the exact same things.
— @jcmann13
I'm so old. I remember when the Republicans hated adultery/lying so much, they impeached a president.
— @UnstableIsotope
Does love excuse Sanford? Maybe, but I still think he could have gone about the whole thing in a much better way!
— @TiannaManon
Hopefully, Mark Sanford will do well with the second chance he has been given.
— @sallyangienews
After electing Sanford, no Republican ever again can claim the GOP is the "family values" party!
— @mc1748
Sanford won. That is what matters. South Carolinians will never vote for a Big Union liberal.

Comments from Facebook:
Both political parties are hypocritical. How can any Republican defend this guy's actions? Also, how can a Democrat defend former president Bill Clinton's? All this shows is that people don't care how bad the actions of a politician are as long as he or she belongs to their party. The blind party allegiance on both sides is almost comical to watch.

Gives you an idea of what South Carolina stands for. So much for Republican family values.
— Gary Smith
Good job! Mark Sanford shouldn't be defined by what happened in his personal life. I am glad he won!
— Jere Mullen
It is funny Republicans see this as a victory when it merely stains the credibility of the party. They elect a candidate who cheats and lies to his family. They elect a "fiscal hawk" candidate who used government funds for personal travel. This is a disaster for the GOP, as every picture of Sanford will remind the nation of the hypocrisy.
