Scholarships for minorities fill a need: #tellusatoday
We asked our Twitter followers whether ending a "whites only" scholarship should lead to ending scholarships for minorities. Comments are edited for clarity and grammar:
When we achieve true equal opportunity, do away with affirmative action scholarships. Until then, keep them.
— @NCJarhead
A student should not have a better chance at a scholarship just because he or she is a minority. Students should have equal chances.
— @stoll_some_time
Scholarships should not be given for race. They should be given to those who excel in their area.
— @Akendallphoto
Most universities have race specific grants or scholarships, so I believe they should stay.
— @mmafootball81
With a lot of scholarships established for every gender, ethnicity and religion, why not keep them?
— @CaldwellDarwin
Education knows no color. All students should get an equal shot at scholarships regardless of race.
— @SinclairCC
Everyone should get a scholarship. It shouldn't matter what race they are.
