Is arming Syrian rebels the right move? #tellusatoday
We asked our Twitter followers what they thought of the U.S. decision to get involved in Syria by arming rebels. Comments are edited for clarity and grammar:
I think it is a huge mistake. Those weapons will be pointed at American soldiers and civilians before we know it.
— @McHaleFrank2h
The U.S. has a moral responsibility to intervene in Syria; 90,000 plus dead can't be easy on anyone's conscience, especially President Obama's.
— @garretpustay6h
Afghanistan is ending soon, so of course the USA would intervene elsewhere. When will this failed cycle end?
— @gregoryakoch4h
Pardon my naivete, but why can't we work on the violence and safety in our own country before we try to stop it in someone else's?
— @WondHerful3h
Great idea. Arming rebels has been so successful in the past.
— @SeekingHim4Life3h
U.S. decisions are faulty in the Middle East. Tribalism trumps democracy in this area, something the U.S. keeps ignoring.
— @GarbledMsg3h
I think non-combat support such as medical and food, shelter and supplies should be it. No weapons!
