IRS doing its job, but better oversight needed: #tellusatoday
We asked our followers on Twitter what they thought of the IRS scandal after revelations the agency didn't just target conservative groups. Comments are edited for clarity and grammar:
The IRS was doing its job of checking agencies that might have been asking to be tax exempt to get out of paying taxes.

The IRS should not be able to intimidate and dictate. It's meant to regulate under the law!
— @Historybuff19
I've heard enough about the IRS scandal to know it's time for a special prosecutor. Somebody in the administration needs to go to jail.
— @whcampbell67
The slow but persistent accumulation of information will make the IRS scandal on par with Watergate.
— @CouchKen
IRS should be abolished. Improve congressional oversight; eliminate bureaucracy.
— @cindyteatime
The IRS scandal is not really a scandal. Progressive groups were also flagged for review and other non-profits were also.
— @arbabzadah
Tea Party groups applied for 501(c)(3) status so donors could get tax deduction and so should have received IRS scrutiny.
