Let student-athletes share in spoils of sports: #tellusatoday
Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel was punished in an autograph controversy. We asked on Twitter: Should student-athletes be allowed to make money? Comments are edited for clarity and grammar:
Yes. Most student-athletes won't be professionals. They should get some of the money the schools, NCAA, TV stations make on them.

Some get paid already with scholarships, and it's a privilege, not a right, to be a student-athlete. Collegiate sports aren't pro.

If the athlete's grades meet the requirements, why not let them make money? It could encourage more kids to attend college.
— @WillCMc
Athletes should get a stipend for basic needs, and a share of income from use of their names or images at graduation.
— @tab91787
They already get paid in tuition, room and board.
— @LaurenceReisman
Considering the amount involved and student debt, it's time for a trust fund for the students. It's overdue!
