Punchlines: Traffic jams Chris Christie in corruption?
It's amazing how much havoc a traffic jam can cause.
It can make the most level headed among us suffer from violent fits of road rage, turn a pleasant day into a total mess and apparently call the political values (and potentially career) of a 2016 presidential hopeful into question. At least that's what's happening to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie after a chain of e-mails from his administration were recently linked to a scandal in his state. Messages exchanged between his aides show that they devised a plan to punish a local mayor for not endorsing Christie's bid for governor. The penalty? Backed up traffic on the George Washington Bridge (in the mayor's town) for four days.
Scandal? Sure. But as one of the comedians laments, in New Jersey, this is child's play. Take a look at what the Daily Show's Jon Stewart calls real Jersey corruption. Another comedian points out that this isn't the worst traffic jam the state has ever seen.
