N-word a term of hate, no matter who uses it: Your Say
The NFL is considering a rule that would trigger a 15-yard penalty if a player used the N-word on the field. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:
This is simple, whether you agree with it or not. If your employer asks you to not use the N-word, you have two choices:
Respect the person/organization paying your salary and not use it.
Find employment elsewhere. It is that simple.
— Michael Hornung
I thought I'd seen it all from the NFL with all its ridiculous anti-defense rules, but trying to legislate bad words from the field of play is as pathetic as it gets.
— Todd Eller
I don't think anyone, white or black, should use the word. How a certain group of people says it, such as rappers, but then gets upset when someone of a different color uses it, just baffles my mind.
Either you don't want people using the word, or you don't care, but you can't have it both ways.
— John Spencer
There is simply no place and no time to use the N-word. To me as a black person, the word means only one thing: hate.
It is clear to me that hip-hop music culture is the biggest reason that word is used so freely these days. I say it should be held accountable for the damage being done.
— Michael Younger
The existence of this word is a symptom of self-hatred. Everything God makes is good. Black is beautiful, but many have been socialized to denigrate themselves.
