Care for children who grow up in poverty: Your Say Interactive
Of the 404 unaccompanied migrant children interviewed by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, more than 50% (277) fled their country for the U.S. because of violence. And, last year 17,240 migrant children from Mexico alone were apprehended at the border.
This growing influx of children crossing illegally into the U.S., unaccompanied by an adult, has forced a new national conversation on what should be done with members of the U.S. undocumented population.
Take a look above at the statistics on migrant children from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, and the national conversation on what should be done about the undocumented. Then take a look at the responses from our readers, and weigh in with your thoughts in the interactives below:

—@SMazoff
They are breaking the law and should be immediately deported.
—@SWolf298
Keep these children safe in foster homes.
—@RosiGuillen1
Simply let them grow up as responsible American citizens and contribute to the development of this country with their ingenuity. They will have a bright future.
