Punchlines: Pay to play at the Super Bowl?
As one comic implied, aren't there already enough reasons to hate the NFL? Well, now you can add another one to your list. The NFL has asked performers who want to play during halftime shows to contribute part of the profits they make touring after the Super Bowl gig to the league. Yes, essentially the NFL wants acts to pay in order to play during the halftime show. Don't gigs for musicians usually work the other way around? Maybe concertgoers should adopt this model. Perhaps we've got it backward. Musicians should pay us to go to their shows.
If this trend picks up, according to the late-night comics, the only people who will be able to afford to perform during the Super Bowl are billionaires whose acts we probably don't want to see. Check out who they might be in this webisode of Punchlines.
