Eric Holder, 'Race to Nowhere': Second look
Letters to the editor:
Eric Holder's missed chance
As a retired corporate counsel for one of the global oil conglomerates, I read with interest Jonathan Turley's commentary on Eric Holder's tenure as attorney general ("Eric Holder's reign ends with a whimper: Column").
Corporate counsel must routinely remember that their client is not the CEO, but the shareholders of the corporation or, sometimes, an employee who must be protected from abuse by senior staff.
Either Holder did not understand the Constitution or its significance nearly as well as one might wish for that position (how else to explain loss after loss at the Supreme Court), or he failed to appreciate who his client actually was. Neither option is a flattering appraisal.
Instead of being remembered as a champion of the Constitution and the American people, his true client, he will be remembered as a hack for President Obama. As Turley said, so much unrealized potential.

Big vs. little education issues
I have viewed the film "Race to Nowhere," and I'm not a fan ("Students lack school-life balance: Column"). Unlike many people, I'm willing to bet commentary writer Vicki Abeles has choices for her children. To whine about that choice is a slap in the face to millions who can only dream of being "overscheduled."
