Are new streaming services a win for viewers? Your Say
Last week, HBO and CBS announced new streaming video services giving cord cutters, and others who don't subscribe to pay TV services such as cable, more choices. Comments from Facebook are edited for clarity and grammar:
This is great news from HBO. Cable companies will hate it. I predict two things will happen:
Other premium channels will follow suit, offering a streaming service that doesn't require a cable subscription.
Cable companies and content providers will not take this news well. Because many of us get our high-speed Internet service from cable companies, I suspect they'll start raising Internet rates or implement data limits — or both.
It's too early to tell how big of a victory this will end up being for consumers.

Is there something wrong with simply waiting, anticipating even, the day and hour your favorite show comes on, and watching it? And then waiting a week to watch the next episode? I'm really feeling my age here.

Cut the cord. You will be amazed at how much money you save. The only thing keeping cable bundles together is sports programming. Go to a bar with your friends; it's a better way to watch a game.
